Patch's Projects

My apologies for the crudeness of this page, I haven't really worked out a scheme for it yet. I'll come up with something later. UPDATE: actually I don't think I will - if you really want information about Patch, you might be best to go to his Myspace page. I will however try to keep this page somewhat updated.

*note: I would include projects that Paul Brindley is working on as well, but it seems he only plays for The SUNDAYS (as infrequent as that is). Therefore this will mainly be about Patrick Hannan, aka Patch, and his brother Nick. They used to own and operate the Blah Street recording studio together.

If any other members of The SUNDAYS have other projects, I'll add them here as well. This doesn't seem likely.

It should be mentioned that although Paul Brindley doesn't play music with anyone else, he is an extremely active music journalist and consultant.

These are in no particular order...
Faith Over Reason
Led by Moira Lambert, and Patch played drums with them. The only albums I can find (or know of) are pre-Patch. It may be hard to find their albums because they've all been snatched up by Saint Etienne fans...
ova
Moira and Patch worked together again in this band, releasing the "Universal Audio" ep in 1998. An lp recorded in 1999 without Patch was never released... And ova is no more.
Arnold
Patch played drums on some tracks of their "Hillside" album. Nick also did some work with it. This is a great album if you like acoustic guitar and lo-fi recordings.
Their newest album "Bahama" had featured Patch on drums and Nick producing, but when Arnold was picked up by poptones they re-recorded most tracks without them. Then Arnold relocated to the US (probably to escape creditors). Buy it used.
Tim Keegan & Departure Lounge
Once known as Tim Keegan & the Homer Lounge. Lindsay Jamieson was one of the first members, and Patch played with them as well. Their third album "Too Late To Die Young" is was recorded at Blah Street.
Robyn Hitchcock
Homer (which means Lindsay and Patch) contributed to "Moss Elixer", and after Patch left Homer they played on "Jewels for Sophia" as well.
theaudience
Sophie Ellis Bextor fronted this group through several releases (but only one full album) at the end of the '90s, but you can't force people to get along... Billy Reeves was their main songwriter and decided he didn't want to be in the band any more.
Star 69
Patch helped form, and played drums, and recorded their first album (e.p.). Then they moved to California (where Julie Daniels originates). The bassist Warren Huart has worked with Patch on other projects since Star 69 split up.
Julie Daniels has since moved back to England with her husband and has contributed a song called "You Should Know" to a compilation album called "acoustic", and may work with Patch again.
Perry Rose
His third album "The Bright Ring of Day" was produced and engineered by Nick Hannan and Kevin Jamieson, and Patch played drums.
Pmff
A rather odd group of musicians got together for this band, and made some odd music. Check it out for yourself, I don't know what to say about it.
Jack Henderson
Patch played drums and Nick engineered the tracks on his album "Cheap Tattoo" at Blah Street Studio.
Bennet
Patch and Nick both contributed to their e.p. "Mum's Gone to Iceland" and album "Super Natural" with percussion and engineering.
Kimberley Rew
Patch was a guest drummer on the album "Great Central Revisited", which was released in 2002.
Katrina Leskanich
Katrina of Katrina and the Waves has known to have worked with Patch, but in what capacity, I don't know.
Fire In The South
Patch is drummer for this prog-rock band, fronted by Stone and Danny Sykes.

Lindsay and Kevin Jamieson are good friends with Patch and have worked with him on a number of different projects.

Stratton Davis mentioned on Arithmetic that the drummer the SUNDAYS hired to replace Patch on the S&S tour is Vinnie Lammi, who once toured with the Cocteau Twins. He was fired just before the tour started, and Patch filled in.

footnote: This page wasn't supposed to be so much about Patch, but rather groups who have some connection to the SUNDAYS (the idea is that they're more likely to be good bands). Since Patch gets around a lot that's why there's this page dedicated to him. Therefore what the hell, here's some personal info - Patch has 3 children (the last I heard, anyway): Imogen Alice, Verity Scarlett and Finn Austin. His birthday is March 4, 1969.
