From: Larry Ballard Subject: guitar chords. Date: unknown i was looking over a few different versions of chords of here's where the story ends, and there seems to be a few different opinions of the types of chords and voicings used. for the verse, i suggest using: Gmaj7 (320002) and Cmaj5 with a flatted 5th (032002). if you listen closely, you can hear that the top note (f#) stays common to both chords. then for the chorus, i use the same Gmaj7 chord, and the C chord with a normal 5(032003). oh well, that's my two cents worth. ----------------------------- From: Larry Ballard Subject: howdy. Date: unknown (...) here's an addition to the previous suggestion for chords to "here's where..." the weird C chord is just a c chord with a flat 5 sounds a little odd, but... for the B section, try this position: Cmaj7: 032003 it's a little more consistent with the other positions, in that you don't have to make any major hand changes. also, that flat 5, (actually, probalably a sharp 4) resolves nicely to the G on the top string. arrgh, just a fewe too many theory classes. oh well. i think that one article somebody quoted was a Spin from 1989 or somethign like that ( i think it has Jim Morrison on the cover)- my friend and i both talked about that same article the other day. ----------------------------- From: Robert Spassky Cabacungan Subject: TAB: Here's Where the Story Ends Date: unknown By the way, it looks like I am to be the "official" gatherer of Sundays sheet music, so send all your submissions, ideas, requests to: robertc@phoenix.princeton.edu (At this point requests will not be very successful, unless you ask for "Here's Where the Story Ends"... By the way, any attempts at the bassline for this song are welcomed. I don't have a bass, so it's a bit difficult for me to do... Also, anybody know the keyboard part? *Psyche!* Just kidding.) "Here's Where the Story Ends" (electric David part) The electric guitar comes in on both 'B' sections, when the voice begins singing about "that little souveneir of a terrible year." After the second time into that section, the electric stays for the (short) remainder of the song. I keep "hearing" little triplet-type thingies with the notes that are audible in the 'B' sections, but maybe it's just a matter of David syncopating the notes. It does help me with the timing to play it in triplets, so that's the way that I'll write it. But keep in mind that the only notes which seem to be audible (read: the only notes that count) are mostly the ones on the high-e. Discussion and alternate ideas are of course, cheerfully encouraged and accepted. In any case, timing is (of course) up to you to figure out. I don't have the personnel to test this out live, so I can't vouch for how well it'll hold up. But let me know how it sounds, and if changes should be made. (i.e., *you*, Brandon!) I've tried to play using any way I've read (from the net) to play these notes, but none of them sound right.
